Microseismicity catalog of Discovery transform fault, East Pacific Rise, 2008
This microseismicity catalog is derived from data retrieved from ocean-bottom seismometers deployed in 2008 as part of the Quebrada-Discovery-Gofar (QDG) Transform Fault Experiment. The data file is in ASCII text format. The first row is a column header that describes the content of the catalog: Earthquake origin time, latitude, longitude, depth and local magnitude. Not all earthquakes have a local magnitude estimate because of the selection criteria. Details of the earthquake location methodology and location interpretations can be found in the Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems paper "Machine learning-based new earthquake catalog illuminates on-fault and off-fault seismicity patterns at the Discovery Transform Fault, East Pacific Rise". The data set was generated as part of the projects called Capturing 4D Variations in Stress, Slip, and Fault-Zone Material Properties: The 2019-2021 Gofar Transform Fault Earthquake Prediction Experiment; and, CAREER: Using seismic sources to probe megathrust fault conditions. The project was funded by NSF awards OCE-1833279 and EAR-2143413.
