MGL2304 Bathymetry
Gridded bathymetry data from Galapagos Marine IGUANA OBS deployment cruise MGL2304 (2023)
Along-track hull-mounted EM122 multibeam swath bathymetry data was collected within a region 300 x 300 km to the west, south, and north of the Galápagos islands. Also covered was the northern portion of the new Ecuadorian Hermandad Marine Reserve. The swath data was acquired during the 2023 Marine IGUANA (Marine Imaging of Galápagos Upwelling and the Neighboring Archipelago) project that deployed 53 broadband OBS instruments from R/V Langseth as part of cruise MGL2304. The goal of the project is to image the Galápagos mantle plume and its interaction with the Western Galápagos spreading center. The file presented here is in GMT-compatible netCDF grid format with a horizontal resolution of 100 m. Preliminary processing was done on the data using MB-System; additional processing could be done to correct some remaining issues. The raw Marine IGUANA multibeam data are available at: https://www.marine-geo.org/tools/search/entry.php?id=MGL2304. Funding was provided by National Science Foundation award OCE 19-28197.
