POS338 Seismic Reflection/Refraction
Seismic:Reflection:MCS
Processed seismic profiles 02, 11, and 15 (SEG-Y format) across the Santorini-Amorgos Tectonic Zone from Poseidon cruise POS338 (2006)
In this active-source experiment at the Santorini-Amorgos Tectonic Zone, multi-channel seismic reflection data was collected during Poseidon cruise POS338 in 2006 (chief scientist Prof. Dr. Christian Hübscher, University of Hamburg). The airgun seismic source was a single G.I. gun that was used in true G.I. mode (Injector volume: 45 cubic inches; Generator volume: 105 cubic inches) producing a signal of 100 Hz main frequency. The seismic shot data was recorded with a 24-channel streamer of 600 m length (25 m channel spacing), and stored in SEG-Y format. The processed seismic data files presented here are in SEG-Y format. Processing of these data comprised trace-editing, simple frequency filtering (10-500 Hz), suppression of a receiver-ghost signal by predictive deconvolution, surface-related multiple elimination as well as spherical divergence correction, pre-stack time migration followed by top-muting and white-noise removal. These data have a main frequency of 60 Hz indicating a vertical resolution of approx. 8-15 m.This processed seismic data set is interpreted in Preine et al., Tectonics, 2022. The study was funded with German Research Foundation DFG grant HU690/25-1.
