Hydrate stability zone (HSZ) thickness, North Carnarvon Basin, offshore Western Australia
This GeoTIFF grid file consists of the thickness of hydrate stability zone (HSZ) across the North Carnarvon Basin. HSZ is computed based on the water depth, bottom water temperature and interpolated geothermal gradient across the basin that is derived from temperature data in the wells. The calculation for geothermal gradient is done using Kriging Interpolation and each point in the GeoTIFF file provides the most precise HSZ thickness in the area. The GeoTIFF grid can be imported into any GIS software. The data set was generated as part the project called, Carbon storage in widespread low-saturation gas hydrate systems. Funding was provided from NSF CAREER award OCE17-52882.
