Mendocino_Constable Electromagnetic, Magnetotelluric
Raw seafloor magnetotelluric data acquired over the Mendocino Fracture Zone, 2017-2018
These passive raw seafloor electric and magnetic field time series data files were acquired in 2017 and 2018 using SIO Mk III OBEM seafloor magnetotelluric/electromagnetic sensors deployed during the Mendocino Fracture Zone project ( in the eastern Pacific Ocean, across the Mendocino fracture zone at 131.5 degrees west longitude. The instruments, data format, and playback software are described at The OBEM instruments were deployed during Revelle cruise RR1719. The data files are in the Scripps EM data logger binary format. The fifth channel recorded is seismic/pressure, either DPG or hydrophone. The data files were generated as part of the project called The Mendocino Fracture Zone: A natural laboratory to study aging of the lithosphere and asthenosphere. Funding was from NSF award OCE-1736590 and UC ship funds.
