MGL2306 Seismic Reflection/Refraction
Seismic:Reflection:MCS
Processed post-stack time-migrated seismic reflection data (SEG-Y) from the Cape Fear landslide offshore North Carolina (R/V Langseth, MGL2306, 2023)
These SEG-Y files represent shipboard-processed profiles for approximately 3,562 km of multi-channel seismic reflection data acquired during R/V Marcus G. Langseth survey MGL2306 in 2023. The field program was conducted as part of the National Science Foundation-funded project Neogene History of Mass Transport Deposits Offshore North Carolina (awards OCE21-40397 and OCE21-40398). Data were collected on the North Carolina outer continental shelf, slope, and rise between ~ 31 and 35 degrees north, in water depths of ~ 560 - 5200 meters, along 5 regional margin-perpendicular profiles, 9 regional margin-parallel profiles, and a dense grid of profiles located across landslide headwalls on the upper slope. The profiles were processed using the near offset 900-meters (144, 6.25m-spaced channel groups) of the 6-kilometer streamer with the objective of achieving high-resolution diagnostic profiles (1-millisecond sample rate, 3.125-m CMP spacing), while maximizing time for processing all data through post-stack time migration. Navigation is embedded in the SEG-Y file headers, with UTM zone 18N.
