Near-bottom AUV Sentry processed multibeam data collected at Escanaba Trough, Gorda Ridge (TN403, 2022)
This processed multibeam data was generated from echosounder data collected near bottom using a Kongsberg EM2040 system by AUV Sentry during 2022 R/V Thomas G. Thompson cruise TN403 at the Escanaba Trough hydrothermal vent field, Gorda Ridge, in the northeast Pacific Ocean. The processed swath files are in MB-System-compatible format with mbio format number 261. The bathymetry surveying was done as part of a project called Escanaba Trough: Exploring the Seafloor and Oceanic Footprints, an interagency effort involving the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. Funding is acknowledged from NOAA Ocean Exploration via its Ocean Exploration Fiscal Year 2019 Funding Opportunity and through the National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP), the USGS Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Enhanced Funding Opportunities, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management through Interagency Agreement M19PG00021 with the United States Geological Survey, and the USGS Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources and Mineral Resources Programs.
