MBARI Mapping AUV near-bottom processed swath bathymetry gridded data (netCDF format) at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge Puy des Folles Seamount, EMARK Massif, Falkor EMARK Vents, and Hydra (Grappe Deux) (2023)
This processed swath bathymetry data set was collected by MBARI Mapping AUVs and consists of grids compiled for the four sites: the summit of Puy des Folles Seamount from missions 20230310m1, 20230310m2, and 20230402m1; the EMARK Massif from missions 20230314m1, 20230314m2, 20230315m1, 20230316m1, 20230317m1, 20230317m2, 20230318m1, 20230319m1, 20230319m2; the Falkor EMARK Vents from missions 20230321m1, 20230321m2, and 20230323m1; and Hydra (Grappe Deux) from missions 20230325m1, 20230326m1, 20230328m1, and 20230329m1 (investigators David Caress, Jeffrey Beeson, Jennifer Paduan, Sharon Walker, David Butterfield). The data were collected with a Reson SeaBat T50-S 400 kHz multibeam sonar system flown at 50-m altitude. The data files are in GMT-compatible netCDF grid format and contain processed swath bathymetry data gridded at 1-m resolution, plus data gridded at 50-cm resolution over three chimney fields at Puy des Folles where the vehicle flew closer to the seafloor, at 25-m altitude, on mission 20230402m1. The AUV survey missions were conducted during the 2023 R/V Falkor (too) cruise FKt230303 (chief scientist David Butterfield) to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Funding was provided by the Schmidt Ocean Institute and a grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation to MBARI.
