NorthPond_CORK Temperature
Temperature time-series data from the CORK-Lite in Hole U1383B in North Pond acquired from 2012-2017
This data set was acquired with an Onset Computer Corporation U12-015-03 Autonomous Temperature Logger (S/N 9944712) deployed in April 2012 at 45 m below seafloor in the CORK-Lite installed in Hole U1383B in North Pond on the western flank of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge using the ROV Jason during R/V Maria S. Merian cruise MSM 20_5 (Wheat et al., 2012). The temperature logger was recovered in October 2017 using Jason during R/V Atlantis cruise AT39-01 (C.G. Wheat, Chief Sci.). The data file is in tab-delimited Text File (ASCII) format and includes time and temperature data that were converted from raw binary data using factory software and calibrations. The instrument was acquired with support from NSF award OCE-0946795 (K. Becker, PI) Collaborative Research: The basalt-hosted biosphere observatory at North Pond, advanced instrumentation for transformative science. Further NSF support was provided under grants OCE-1060855 and OCE-1536601 (K. Becker, PI). ROV dive support was provided by OCE-1060634 (K.J. Edwards, PI) and OCE-1536623 (C.G. Wheat, PI). Pressure data files from this CORK-Lite installation are also available from MGDS (Becker et al., 2015b, data set DOI 10.1594/IEDA/322275; and Becker et al., 2018b, data set DOI 10.1594/IEDA/324537). Long-term pressure and temperature data from Hole U1383B are presented by Becker et al. (2022).
