Interpreted outlines of lava flows, faults, and eruptive fissures as shapefiles for the distal South Rift Zone region of Axial Seamount, version as of July 2021
This geological interpretation of lava flows outlines, faults, and eruptive fissures (investigators D. W. Caress, D. A. Clague, J. B. Paduan, M. Le Saout) is compiled from data collected on surveys of the South Rift Zone at Axial Seamount between 2011 and 2019 by the MBARI Mapping AUVs. This data set is as published in Le Saout et al., 2022, Faulting and magmatic accretion across the overlapping spreading center between Vance Segment and Axial South Rift, GRL. The flows shapefile provides outlines of lava flows erupted about 1300 to 1450 years ago and of three younger flows on the South Rift Zone of Axial Seamount. The data files are in shapefile format in UTM Zone 9N projection. Funding for the work was provided through annual grants to MBARI from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
