M154-2 Temperature
Site 15-1 HyLO raw temperature data collected off Montserrat during 2019 Meteor SEKT cruise M154-2
This was the first sea trial test of a new type of Lister heat flow and thermal gradient probe developed at SMU. The new probe is called a HyLO Probe ( "Hybrid Lister-Outrigger Probe). This temperature data set consists of the raw temperature data collected with the HyLO probe attached to the bottom 2 meters of a 3-meter-long gravity corer that was deployed from R/V Meteor during the 2019 Lesser Antilles SEKT cruise M154-2. Temperature values were measured at drill site 15-1 using the HyLO probe that consisted of 8 thermistors spaced 0.18 m apart. The data file includes temperatures recorded during transit down to the sea bottom, during stops in the water column for calibration testing, as well as during probe insertion and removal from the seafloor. The data file is in Excel spreadsheet format and contains time and temperature for each of the thermistors. The data set was generated as part of the projects called SEKT - Sector collapse kinematics and tsunami implications, and, Field Testing Two New Portable Geothermal Gradient Probe Prototypes. Funding was provided with NSF award OCE19-26729.
