EW9707 Seismic Reflection/Refraction
Seismic:Reflection:MCS
Processed 3D multichannel seismic data on the East Pacific Rise, acquired during the R/V Maurice Ewing survey EW9707 (1997)
The Anatomy of a Ridge Axis Discontinuity (ARAD) experiment was the first 3-D multichannel seismic reflection experiment conducted at a mid-ocean ridge. This cooperative experiment between Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Cambridge University also conducted a 3-D crustal tomography experiment of the ridge. The purpose of this 3-D multichannel seismic reflection and tomography survey along the EPR at 9N was to test competing models of magmatic segmentation beneath a fast spreading ridge. Funded by NSF,CU/BL/BIRPS,GB/NERC grant OCE9633774.
