Processed multi-channel seismic profile images (PNG format) for 0-75 Ma equatorial Atlantic ocean floor acquired in 2015 as part of the TransAtlanticILAB project
These processed MCS image files are part of a seismic investigation of seafloor, basement and layer 2A for the African plate in the equatorial Atlantic ocean from 0-75 Ma (investigator Satish Singh). The data is cited in Audhkhasi and Singh (2019). The multi-channel seismic data was acquired in individual sequences starting from sequence 1 (eastern most) to sequence 14 (western most) using a 12 km long streamer. Three ridge-orthogonal profiles were acquired, each composed of more than one sequence. The three ridge-orthogonal parts of the profiles have been combined to produce a continuous flow line from 0-75 Ma. Processed data files (SEG-Y format) and their associated images (PNG format) have been made available for the sequences 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 14. The omitted sequences are either entirely in the turning part of the profile (for instance, sequence 12) or are too small (< 10 km) to provide any substantial information (for instance, sequence 3). The processing steps involve geometry merging, velocity analysis for layer 2A triplication, and top and bottom mute to stack only 2A retrograde energy for super-CMP gathers. These steps are described in supplementary figure S2 of Audhkhasi and Singh (2019). The seafloor, basement and 2A event was picked on the processed data and has been made available as a related data set for three ridge-orthogonal parts of the profile: leg1_age_sf_l2a.mat, leg2_age_sf_bs_l2a.mat and leg3_age_sf_bs_l2a.mat. The picks were used for plotting figure 4 of Audhkhasi and Singh (2019). This study was carried out from March-April 2015 and is funded by the ERC Advance Grant agreement No. 339442 TransAtlanticILAB.
