MGL1305 Earthquake:Catalog
Hypocenter Catalog Data from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge - Rainbow Vent Field, 2013
This data set was acquired with Scripps Institution of Oceanography LC4X4 Ocean Bottom Seismometers deployed during R/V Marcus G. Langseth expedition MGL1305 in 2013 (Chief Scientist: Juan Pablo Canales, Investigators: Robert Sohn, Juan Pablo Canales, Robert Dunn). OBS recovery took place during R/V Pelagia cruise 64PE382 (Chief scientist: Robert Sohn, Investigators: Juan Pablo Canales, Robert Dunn). The earthquake hypocenter catalog is in ASCII text format. The first column is the event origin time. Note that depth is relative to sea level (i.e., -3.0 equals 3 km below sea level). The RMS value is the misfit of the hypocenter location. Only those events with RMS < 0.2 s were published in the Horning et al., 2018 journal article, but all events with at least 6 body wave arrivals across the network and RMS < 0.5 s are listed in this catalog. The data file was generated as part of the project called MARINER: Seismic Investigation of the Rainbow Hydrothermal Field and its Tectono/magmatic Setting, Mid-Atlantic Ridge 36 Degrees 14'N. Funding was provided by NSF award OCE09-61680.
