Residual Bathymetry Anomalies at Global Subduction Zones (investigators Dan Bassett and Tony Watts)
This data set presents images showing residual bathymetry anomalies for global subduction zones. Residuals are calculated by subtracting a regional spectral average of the trench-normal bathymetric expression across the subduction zone. This procedure removes the steep gradients associated with the seaward and landward trench-slopes, significantly improving the identification of short-wavelength lower-amplitude structure. The image files are in PDF format and were generated from gridded data files. The residual bathymetry is cited in Bassett and Watts, 2015a,b.
