TN272 Magnetic:Anomaly:IGRF
Deep-Tow magnetic anomaly composite profile data (ASCII format), Jurassic Quiet Zone survey (TN272, 2011)
This data file presents the projected composite profile of magnetic anomaly values upward-continued to a level plane at 3.2 km water depth and to the sea surface. To generate the composite profile, all of the magnetic anomaly data values from the DeepTow-MISO sled tows were projected onto one profile with a strike of 56 (214) degrees and re-sampled to have equally-spaced data points at a 100 m spacing. The deep-tow magnetics data was collected with a total field SeaSPY precession magnetometer attached to the DeepTow-MISO towed sled during the 2011 Thompson cruise TN272 to the western Pacific (chief scientists Masako Tominaga and Maurice Tivey). This processed data file is in ASCII format, with column headers, and gives the projected longitude, latitude, and depth, the projected magnetic anomaly (IGRF removed), and the upward-continued anomalies at a depth of 3,200m and at the sea surface. The data set was generated as part of the projects called A Deep-AUV Magnetic and Seismic Study of the Hawaiian Jurassic Crust - The Global Significance of Jurassic Magnetic Anomalies; and, A High-Resolution Deep-AUV Magnetic Survey of the Hawaiian Jurassic Basin. Funding was provided from NSF awards EAR10-29965, OCE10-29573 and EAR12-33000.
