Three-dimensional P-wave velocity structure of the Nankai trough region, SW Japan (investigators: Adrien F. Arnulf, Dan Bassett, Alistair Harding)
This three-dimensional (3-D) P-wave velocity structure of the Nankai trough region, in Southwest Japan, is derived from joint travel-time tomographic inversion of active source seismic data and regional earthquake seismicity (JMA catalogue). The data file is in ASCII format and contains 4 columns (x-local-coordinate, y-local-coordinate, z-local-coordinate, P-wave velocity). The local grid is 800 km long, 500 km wide and is centered on 33.535°N and 134.675°E and rotated -20°N. The included Matlab script can be used to plot the data set. The data files were generated as part of a project called 3-D Onshore-Offshore Seismic Investigation of Japan's Megathrusts. Funding was provided by NSF grants OCE 1657480 (UTIG) and OCE 1658010 (SIO).
