High-Temperature time-series raw data from hydrothermal vents at Axial Seamount, Juan de Fuca Ridge, acquired from 1998 to the present (investigator William Chadwick)
This raw temperature data set was acquired with high-temperature HOBO and MISO probes (range 151-419°C) placed in hydrothermal vents at Axial Seamount on the Juan de Fuca Ridge. The probes were deployed for periods of one to several years beginning in 1998. After each deployment each probe was recovered and serviced, the data was downloaded, and the probe was redeployed often at a different vent site. The file names start with the probe ID, followed by the deployment cruise name/year, and end with the vent name. The MISO probes have 2 chips for redundancy and that is reflected in their file names. The files are in text (ASCII) format and were generated as part of a long-term monitoring project at Axial Seamount. Funding was from NSF grants OCE15-46616, OCE13-56839 and OCE11-55849, OCE07-25605 and NOAA/PMEL grants NOAA-8284-2017, NA16OAR4320152, and NA11OAR4320091.
