Title:
Heat flow data from the Cocos Plate, offshore Costa Rica (2023, ROV SuBastian, FKT230602 and FKT231202)
Abstract:
This data set consists of thermal gradients and estimated heat flows based on an assumed thermal conductivity. The data have been processed to convert from resistance to temperature using calibrations for each thermistor. The data set was collected using a custom 1-m long ROV heat flow probe provided by Andrew Fisher, UC Santa Cruz. The heat flow probe was deployed on ROV SuBastian dives 531-540 during Falkor cruise FKt230602 and on dives 625-627 during Falkor cruise FKt231202, operated by Schmidt Ocean Institute. Each deployment of the heat flow probe lasted approximately 15 minutes. The data file is in Excel spreadsheet format with column headers and units. Funding was provided through awards from Schmidt Ocean Institute.
