Title:
Mission Parameter Files and Documentation for GNSS-A data in Cascadia (2021-2023)
Abstract:
These parameter and documentation files were generated as part of GNSS-A operations on the Cascadia Subduction Zone, describe GNSS-A data that can provide estimates of crustal deformation rates along the plate boundary. The data were collected on missions starting in 2021 by a remotely-operated Wave Glider system. The Wave Glider collects GNSS data while ranging to an array of seafloor transponders. All of the GNSS-A sites are located on the accretionary prism. These files are in ASCII format and provide the site coordinates, transponder IDs, Wave Glider transducer-antenna offsets, sensor models, and other documentation related to a Wave Glider mission and GNSS-A site. The parameter files also provide documentation on the file formats of the Rinex, Novatel, and Acoustics files. The file names identify the site, year and Wave Glider ID. The files were generated with NSF funding as part of the project called Constraints on Interseismic Locking near the Trench on the Oregon Segment of the Cascadia Subduction Zone Using Seafloor Geodesy (GNSS-A), funded with NSF awards OCE21-27140 and OCE21-26396. This data set was generated during an active-source seismic study of the Costa Rica convergent margin spanning the Middle America Trench and Nicoya Peninsula. The seismic study was part of a project called the Trans Isthmus Costa Rica Scientific Exploration of a Crustal Transect (TICOSECT). The data were acquired in 1995 using airgun shots from Maurice Ewing cruise EW9502 that were recorded by OBSs and land seismometers. The velocity model navigation file is in ASCII format and relates the model distance to (latitude, longitude) coordinates. The files contain three columns: Model distance (km); Latitude (degrees); Longitude (degrees). Funding was provided from NSF award OCE94-02091.
