Abstract:
This processed swath bathymetry data set was collected at the summit of Loihi Seamount, including Pele's Pit, and the FeMO hydrothermal vent site with a Reson SeaBat 7125 multibeam sonar system during Sentry AUV dives Sentry165, Sentry166, Sentry167, Sentry168 (FeMO), Sentry169, Sentry171, and Sentry172. The data files are in MB-System-compatible format (mbio format 88) and contain processed swath bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data. The dives were conducted during the 2013 R/V Thompson cruise TN293 (chief scientist Craig Moyer, Western Washington University) as part of the project called Ecology of microbial mats at seamount associated Fe-rich hydrothermal vent systems. Funding was provided with NSF award OCE11-55756 and by the Schmidt Ocean Institute. The AUV was operated by WHOI:NDSF. The data files were reprocessed in 2016 by Jennifer Paduan (MBARI) with funding provided by a grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation to MBARI.
