Abstract:
This high-resolution seismic survey, MERC II, in the area offshore Eilat in the northern Gulf of Aqaba was conducted between 2–8 February 2010 onboard the R/V Mediterranean Explorer and included the acquisition of 47 seismic lines (~70 km). The data was acquired using a GeoResources GeoSparker200 seismic source with an electrical energy output of 500 J and frequency range between 200 and 3000 Hz. The data was recorded with a 24-bit digital minitrace system. Data gaps in a previous 2006 seismic survey were filled in during this 2010 survey. The seismic acquisition parameters are described in the associated documents. Funding was provided through the U.S. Agency for International Development Middle East Regional Cooperation program (MERC) under contracts TA-MOU-05-M25-004 and TA-MOU-08-M29-036.
