Abstract:
This data set provides the layer 2A processed MCS stacked sections from the Crustal Reflectivity Experiment Southern Transect (CREST) survey in the South Atlantic, MGL1601. The CREST survey continuously imaged a 70-million-year age window of oceanic crust generated at the same spreading segment and was designed to investigate the long-term evolution of oceanic crust. Data was collected in 2016 using R/V Marcus Langseth. The survey lines in this data set are processed using a constant velocity to best flatten the Layer 2A retrograde refraction arrival and presented in SEG-Y format. The processing workflow is described in detail in Estep et al. 2019 https://doi.org/10.1029/2019JB017302. Funding for the CREST project was provided by NSF awards OCE15-37108 and OCE15-37169
