Title:
Raw deep-towed electric field data acquired over the southern Hikurangi margin during Tangaroa cruise TAN2012 (2020)
Abstract:
These raw, deep-towed electric field time series data files were collected in November 2020 during controlled-source electro-magnetic mapping of gas hydrate in the Pegasus Basin, New Zealand. They were collected using five SIO Mk III OBEM Vulcan recorders named Barramundi, Mahi, Mola, Morwong, and Mullet. These five Vulcan receivers were deep-towed as an array, spaced at 200 m intervals in that name order, during two data acquisition dives called senko_01 and senko_02. The data file names are distinguished based upon the dive name and Vulcan receiver name. Between the two dives, the data files were downloaded and the instrument batteries were replaced. Data files are in the Scripps EM data logger binary format, with Ch1 = crossline electric, Ch2 = inline electric, Ch3 = vertical electric, Ch4 = CSEM timing signal. The instruments, data format, and playback software are described at https://marineemlab.ucsd.edu/instruments/. These data files were generated as part of a project called Marine CSEM study of the southern Hikurangi Margin: A first step towards estimating the global gas hydrate carbon budget. Funding was from NSF award OCE-1916553.
