Title:
Single-channel seismic field data in the Gulf of Mexico, acquired by the R/V Longhorn in 1991 (91L580)
Abstract:
Funded primarily by the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics Student Cruise Fund, 91L580 (UTIG Student Cruise 15 in the Gulf of Mexico) was one of many student cruises conducted by UTIG as a means of introducing students to the collection of marine geophysical data. Two industry grants provided additional funds. 4-channel seismic data, 99 n.mi of 3.5 kHz data, and cores were acquired as part of a student training cruise. Two primary objectives were 'delineation of salt canopy sutures between coalesced satl structures' and 'delineation and characterization of the downslope termination and upslope origin of at least one channel system on the slope of the Rio Grande Delta..
