Abstract:
This 2008 R/V Koca Piri Reis survey of the Marmara Sea was a joint expedition between US and Turkish scientists, collecting over 2649 km of MCS reflection and 3.5 kHz Chirp data for the Turkish-American Marmara Multichannel Project (TAMAM). In 2010, a companion cruise collected additional data. The primary goal of this project was to acquire a high-resolution seismic dataset that could be used to make stratigraphic correlations within and between subbasins in the Marmara Sea and to image shallow structures. Funded by NSF (grants OCE03-28119, OCE03-27273 and OCE09-29063), the Istanbul Technical University, and the Institute of Marine Science and Technology (Dokuz Eylul Univeristy, Izmir, Turkey).
