Abstract:
The experiment was a collaborative effort between the University of Delaware, LDEO, UTIG, WHOI, Stanford University, and the USGS. The purpose of this multichannel seismic reflection survey of the Aleutian arc and the extensive Alaskina continental shelf was to obtain high-quality data that could be used to image the deep structure of the crust and uppermost mantle which, when combined with the well-mapped onshore geology, should allow the principal investigators to constrain the mechanisms of accretion and magmatism.
