Title:
CHIRP data collected on Lake Quinault, Washington, in 2013
Abstract:
The PIs collected high resolution CHIRP data in Lake Quinault by towing an Edgetech SB512i onboard a small catamaran behind a small boat. Lake Quinault, located at the foot of the Olympic Mountains in western Washington, formed around 23,000 years ago behind the terminal moraine of the Quinault valley glacier. The lake is situated about 30 km inland from the Pacific Ocean and has steep sides and a flat bottom with a maximum depth of ~80 m. The goal of this project was to improve understanding of the terrestrial upland response to great subduction or other large earthquakes on the Cascadia margin of North America. Funded by NSF grant EAR-1226064.
