Title:
Earthquake hypocenter data from the detachment faulting system on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 13N
Abstract:
This earthquake hypocenter data set is derived from ocean-bottom seismometer data. Two ASCII text files are provided: 1) File 13N_hypocenters.dat contains 18313 double-difference relocated events constrained by 10 or more stations. 2) File 13N_focal_mechanisms.dat contains 362 events with focal mechanisms at grade A or B in HASH, constrained by 14 or more stations. The hypocenters and focal mechanisms are presented in Parnell-Turner, R., R. A. Sohn, C. Pierce, T. J. Reston, C. J. MacLeod, R. C. Searle, and N. M. Simao, Oceanic Detachment Faults Generate Compression in Extension, Geology, doi:10.1130/G39232.1, 2017. The data files were generated as part of a project called Seismicity and Fault Structure of Oceanic Detachment Faults, and funding was provided by NSF award OCE14-58084.
