Abstract:
Magnetization data for the East Pacific Rise between 12N-16N. The data set is derived from gridded magnetic anomaly data which was inverted for crustal magnetization using a method that takes into account the effects of the present magnetic declination and of seafloor relief. It also assumes that most of the crustal magnetization lies within a 1 km thick upper crustal layer and is oriented parallel to the geocentric axial dipole field. The data was gridded at an interval of 0.5 arc minute (about 900 m) using a continuous curvature spline algorithm. The data set is cited in Cormier et al., 2011. The data file is in netCDF:GMT grid format and was generated as part of the project called Kinematic and Gravity Study of the Northern East Pacific Rise and Its Flanks: Propagating Ridges and Melt Supply. Funding was provided by NSF award OCE96-29903.
