Abstract:
This processed swath bathymetry data set was collected at the Loihi Seamount Shinkai Deep and FeMO hydrothermal vent sites with a Reson SeaBat 7125 multibeam sonar system during Sentry AUV dives 265-270. The data files are in MB-System-compatible format (mbio format 88) and contain processed swath bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data. The dives were conducted during the 2014 R/V Falkor cruise FK140625 (chief scientist Brian Glazer, University of Hawaii) as part of the projects called Characterization of Microbial Transformations in Basement Fluids, from Genes to Geochemical Cycling; and, Redox dynamics resulting from chemical and physical fluxes in surficial permeable sediments. Funding was provided with NSF awards OCE10-31947 and OCE10-61827 and by the Schmidt Ocean Institute. The AUV was operated by WHOI:NDSF. The data files were reprocessed in 2016 by Jennifer Paduan (MBARI) with funding provided by a grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation to MBARI.
