Raw Total Magnetic Intensity (TMI) data, Moiyabana Area, Eastern Botswana, 22S-23S (2017, investigator Estella Atekwana)
IGRF-corrected Raw Total Magnetic Intensity (TMI) data for the Moiyabana area of Eastern Botswana between 22.2S-23.2S and 24.6E-25.9E. This data is from an airborne magnetic survey and is a subset of a larger country-wide aeromagnetic data set acquired by the Department of Geological Survey of Botswana (now Botswana Geoscience Institute (BGI). The data was gridded at 50 m cell size using a minimum curvature algorithm. The data set is cited in Kolawole et al. (2017) in which it was used as part of the project called "Aeromagnetic, gravity, and Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) analyses reveal the causative fault of the April 3, 2017 Mw 6.5 Moiyabana, Botswana Earthquake". The data files are in ASCII format and were generated as part of the project called Integrated studies of early stages of continental extension: From incipient (Okavango) to young (Malawi) rifts. Funding was provided by NSF award EAR10-09988. This data is released to the public as part of an ongoing collaboration between the BGI and Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST). BGI authorized BIUST to share the geophysical data with other researchers for the purposes of research in Botswana. The Government of Botswana has to be acknowledged as the source of the data, and all research findings have to be shared with BGI. Detailed information on the acquisition parameters for this data (e.g. magnetometer sensor used, acquisition dates, line spacing and orientation, tie-line spacing and orientation, flight height etc.) can be obtained from the Department of Geological Survey of Botswana.
