MGDS Vocabulary Terms: data_class

Derived:Compilation, Generated data that consists of a combination of multiple original data sets; ex. GIS package visualizations, arcprojects, mosaic of tiled images
Derived:LabAnalysis, Data that is generated in a laboratory from collected samples; ex. oxygen titration of water sample
Derived:Model, Computer program that attempts to simulate an abstract model of a particular system
Derived:Survey, Data that has been processed or modified from the original that has location as the primary reference; ex. processed multibeam swath, xbt or ctd files; gridded or image data files
Derived:TimeSeries, Data that has been processed or modified from the original that has time as the primary reference; processed data from a landbased weather station
Field:Compilation, Raw collected data that is grouped in sets; ex. web gallery of alvin images
Field:Survey, Raw collected data that has location as the primary reference; ex. logged multibeam swath, xbt, ctd files or rock samples
Field:TimeSeries, Raw collected data that has time as the primary reference; ex. data from a tide gauge, mooring or stationary GPS
